Nowdays, with it's own garden and fountain, Kazansky Cathedral become not only the Orthodox Church and Museum of Religion. On the opposite site, near to Griboedov's Canal Station, it is also well known as beautiful meeting point.
It's a master-piece of architecture in the middle of Nevsky avenue.
DetailsThe 96 Corinthian columns are reminiscent of Saint Peter's in Rome and were the only aspect that survived from the original design formulated by Paul I. Today, Museum of Religion housed within the cathedral.
Catherdral was built in 1801 and from the bird-view it has a form of the cross. In the front of the cathedral were erected the monuments to Major General Kutuzov and Barclay de Tolly.
