The "Sails of White Nights 2006" regatta was once again held in front of the Winter Palace in the centre of St Petersburg from June 1 – 12, 2006.
It has become an unforgettable feature of the city’s life being one of the most entertaining and watched sporting events of the summer season.
Thousands of onlookers and camera crews lined the riverfront to take in the spectacle.
